June 30 - July 4

3rd graders prepare for the slip and slide
Bacon Bears,

Summer Time!!!!!

We ended the year on a great note. Our end of the year activities were well attended, and many students were awarded for their hard work! This year we awarded the Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students for their accomplishments.

The 3rd, 4th and 5th graders participated in their annual Honor Roll Award Ceremony. We had over 50 parents attend in support of the kids.

The last two days of school for the 5th graders went well. Yet, it was bitter-sweet for the 5th graders. The 5th graders were sad to go, but happy to be moving onto Lakeside! We wish the students the best of luck in the future!

Congratulations to the two Student Excellence Award Winners:
Cameron and Juliana

Our Summer Custodians have already begun clearing out classrooms in preparation for the 2014-15 school year. You can visit but you need to pardon our appearance:)

June 23 - 27

Mrs. Devita right before her first Dunk!
Bacon Bears,

It's all about respect!

With only two days left in the school year, I am truly at a loss for words. As a school, we have accomplished so many things this year. We are excited for the summer to recharge and prepare for the 2014-15 school year.

The end of the year brings so many emotions. Honestly, the last few weeks have been trying. Our Discipline Referrals have increased in comparison to the other months. With that said, we know what we need to work on to improve this for next year.

I am hoping that these next two days will be special for the graduating 5th graders. I am excited to see them collect their awards on Monday at the Awards Ceremony. I speak for everyone who are excited to see them at graduation on Tuesday. We all wish them the best as they go to Lakeside!

Dr. Cook was Dunked many times!
As a recap of last week, we our 4th graders had an excellent trip to Cape May Beach. They were so proud to have found Cape May Diamonds, shells, and other beach treasures! Our Honors students had a fun time at our first Academic Awards Celebration. The students created worlds in Minecraft, danced, played Wii, and even had bowling matches. On Thursday, the 4th graders presented their version of the 12 Dancing Princess. The kids did an amazing job (and so did the teachers - Maybe some teachers could be actors!)

We concluded the week with a Badminton Tournament and Bear Bucks Extravaganza on Friday. At the Badminton Tournament, the teachers challenged each other and there was even an Administration team. In the finals, the students took on team "Varsity." The students rallied from being down by 8 points and ended up winning in "overtime." It was a memorable experience.

In the afternoon, the PBIS committee coordinated another awesome Bear Bucks Extravaganza. Any student who earned a Bear Buck was able to throw a ball at the Dunk Tank, Launch a Water Balloon, and participated in the water bucket challenge. Kudos to the PBIS team for a phenomenal afternoon!

But we are not done yet! Here is the schedule for the week:

June 9 - 13

 Bacon Bears,

It's all about respect!

We are still in high gear at RM Bacon! Even though the year is winding down, we are making the most of this time. Teachers are continuing to assess the students and implementing various projects to continue the learning. In fact, the whole school has become fully informed about Charlie and Chocolate Factory because of the Willy Wonka performance last week! It is always amazing when everyone is going in the same direction!!!!

This week is another busy week. We have a few end of the year field trips (1st, Kindergarten and 3rd) not to mention the Leaders Trip on Friday! We have our 5th Grade Luncheon on Thursday, June 12 at 12:00 PM.

Looking forward to an awesome week at RM Bacon!!!!

June 2 - 6

Bacon Bears,

Its all about respect!

On Friday, May 30, 2014 RM Bacon was transformed into another era! Our first Annual Alumni Night was a success as we welcomed approximately 130 alumni going all the way back to 1929 when the school opened. This event was sponsored by PRIDE in Education through the NJEA and MEA.

The infamous Bacon Gym that since 1977 has been about the Bears and Blue/White colors, became Maroon and Gold, the school's color for almost 50 years. Alumni enjoyed good food, music, and time to reminisce. There was a video presentation about the Alumni, and one about the current school! Our Alumni are so proud of our current Bears!

Everyone who attended thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and we are already preparing for our Second Annual Alumni Night on Friday, May 29, 2015!
